El-Rufai’s Sympathizers Not from Kaduna, Says Shehu Sani

Speaking during an interview on ‘Hard Copy’, a programme on Channels Television, on Friday, Sani said his responses on social media about El-Rufai were a result of his attacks on President Bola Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

Former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has spoken about his rift with former governor Nasir El-Rufai.

Speaking during an interview on ‘Hard Copy’, a programme on Channels Television, on Friday, Sani said his responses on social media about El-Rufai were a result of his attacks on President Bola Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

He said that El-Rufai became bitter when he was denied a ministerial position, adding that people are sympathising with him because they are not from Kaduna State.

The former lawmaker further said that El-Rufai is not practising what he preaches as governor, stressing that he should be grateful for the chances he had to serve Nigeria.

“El-Rufai became bittered following his loss of a ministerial nomination, subsequently using every opportunity to criticize the President, the National Security Adviser, and the Governor of Kaduna State.

“While entitled to his views, his prominent past role suggests a need for more decorum. He is not the first former governor denied a ministerial position. There are others who also served eight years and are not currently in such roles.

“Responses to his statements are partly due to the observation that many sympathizers are not from Kaduna State and did not experience his eight-year tenure as governor.

“The contention is that his current criticisms regarding the government — specifically regarding rule of law, human rights, and democracy — contradict his own practices as governor, suggesting a lack of prior belief in these principles which he denied the people of Kaduna State,” Sani said.
