Chelsea returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a commanding 5-1 victory over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Jordan Henderson and Joao Pedro scored twice each, while Morgan Rogers also found the net as Chelsea delivered an impressive attacking display.
Chelsea took the lead after just 66 seconds when Henderson fired a powerful effort past Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic following a pass from Cole Palmer.
The hosts doubled their advantage in the third minute as Rogers’ effort deflected off Bournemouth defender Antonio Silva and went into the net. Henderson provided the assist.
Chelsea continued their fast start after the break, with Joao Pedro scoring just 30 seconds into the second half after Pedro Neto set him up.
Bournemouth pulled one back in the 51st minute when Evanilson bundled the ball into the net following a corner that caused confusion in Chelsea’s defence.
However, Chelsea restored their three-goal advantage in the 67th minute when Joao Pedro converted a cross from Pep Chavarria to complete his brace.
Henderson then sealed the emphatic win three minutes later with a superb free-kick from about 25 yards, completing his brace on an impressive afternoon.
The victory provided a response for Chelsea following their defeat to Brentford before the international break.
The result also moved Chelsea up to fifth in the early Premier League standings, while Bournemouth continued their search for a first league victory of the season.
Chelsea will now look to build on the result as they prepare for a demanding run of fixtures under manager Xabi Alonso.
