Manchester City have announced that a fan tragically died during their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
The tragic news was confirmed by the club in a terse statement on Monday.
It reads: “Manchester City are aware of the tragic news that one of our supporters passed away following a medical incident at yesterday’s match.
“The thoughts of everyone at the Club are with their family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”
The incident was not known at the time of the game, with the match progressing as normal. No further details have been shared regarding the supporter.
The game saw Pep Guardiola’s side fall to their eighth defeat in their last 11 games in all competitions. And the City boss claimed responsibility for the result.
