Flooding: Tinubu in Maiduguri, Assures of ‘Immediate’ Assistance to Affected Residents

President Bola Tinubu has assured of immediate assistance to the teeming flood-affected internally displaced people (IDPs) in several locations in the state capital.
He gave the assurance while interacting with residents who had escaped the dastardly flood that gripped the capital and took refuge at the Government College Maiduguri last week Tuesday.
Thousands of residents had escaped for their lives when the Alau dam almost 20 km away spilled from its battered seams and wreaked havoc on at least eighty percent of the municipality.
Governor Babagana Zulum who acted as the emergency kanuri interpreter for President Tinubu expressed gratitude to the President for coming to the aid of his people at this auspicious time.
Visit to the Shehu of Borno
Earlier the Shehu of Borno Alhaji Garbai Elkanemi had expressed gratitude to the President over his visit at this time of the massive flood that have ravaged the capital city.
He prayed God would reward the President accordingly for his act of kindness and all those who helped out at their time of desperate need for humanitarian support.
Special gratitude was also given to the military for their timely support and assistance towards residents who were were extremely vulnerable and needed help to get back their lives.
“I was highly impressed to see canoes and high speed boats from the military used to ferry people out of their crevices so that they will escape the flood. We are grateful to the theatre Commander especially for this rare show of kindness towards residents.” the monarch posited
Among the convoy of the President were the Senate President, Governors of Sokoto, Kogi, Bauchi, former Governor Ali Modu Sheriff, Minister of Agriculture, members of the House of representatives and Senators from Borno and the north east region of Nigeria.
