Gov Okpebholo Decorates 42 Newly-Promoted Police Officers

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has decorated forty two police officers attached to the Government House, Benin City, following their recent promotion, with a call on them to rededicate themselves to duty and uphold the values of integrity, professionalism, and service to the state.

The Governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Gani Audu, congratulated the officers on their well-deserved elevation and commended their commitment to duty, which, he said, had not gone unnoticed.

He urged them to see their new ranks as a call to higher responsibility in safeguarding lives and property, as well as sustaining peace and order in Edo State.

“Whatever you have done to earn this promotion, please continue with it. Remain serious with the job. Be dedicated, determined, and focused on your duties and responsibilities. Promotions come with higher expectations, and I trust that you will not only live up to this new rank but also raise the standard of service delivery to Edo people,” Alhaji Audu conveyed on behalf of the governor.

Governor Okpebholo further expressed his appreciation to the Edo State Police Command for its cooperation with his administration in securing the state, assuring that his government will continue to strengthen security architecture to guarantee the safety of citizens. He noted that upon his return from official engagements, he would personally meet with the officers to commend them for their dedication.

The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, who joined in the decoration ceremony, congratulated the newly promoted officers and charged them to justify the confidence reposed in them.

He reminded them that promotions come with increased expectations, urging them to continue to display courage, discipline, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

A total of forty two officers benefitted from the exercise: eleven were elevated from the rank of Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), twenty-five from Sergeant to Inspector, while six advanced from Corporal to Sergeant.

The ceremony was marked by an atmosphere of pride and celebration, as colleagues, family members, and senior security personnel applauded the officers for their achievement, describing the promotion as both an encouragement and a reminder of the enormous responsibility of securing Edo State.
