Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have stormed the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja, venue of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention.
This comes amid speculations that the primary had been largely monetised with reports that presidential aspirants are inducing delegates with huge sums of dollars and other foreign currencies.
Over a dozen of the EFCC operatives dressed in their official red overcoats with ‘EFCC’ boldly written behind were sighted moving around the PDP delegates’ stand.
The officers arrived the venue around 4:40pm but the purpose of their visit is relatively unknown.
Meanwhile, no fewer than 811 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) delegates are undergoing accreditation at the national convention ground.
The exercise will enable the party’s national delegates to decide the presidential flag bearer.
The delegates are drawn from the 774 local government areas of the country.
At the venue with heavy security presence, the delegates are accredited by geopolitical zones.
The PDP officials with books containing the names and the local government areas cross-check and give tags carrying the names of the delegates.
They are accredited with their means of identification which include driver licence, INEC Permanent Voter Cards, National Identity Cards.
