By Ibrahim Kegbegbe

A homicide investigation has been launched by the Nigeria Police Force following the discovery of a woman’s body in the early hours of March 14, 2026, at 24 Turaya Street, Mowe-Ibafo area.

According to an internal police incident report obtained from the responding officer, Officer Segun Ogubajo (Badge No. 123), the command received a distress call around 1:05 a.m. reporting gunshots in the area. Officers were immediately deployed to the scene.

Upon arrival, the police found a woman later identified as Folashade Jimoh (née Folashade Jimo), born February 14, 1978, lying in an alleyway behind the residential building. The report states that she showed no signs of life at the scene.

Preliminary medical response was provided when an ambulance arrived at approximately 1:45 a.m., while paramedics formally confirmed her death at 2:17 a.m.

The police report further indicated that the victim sustained multiple gunshot injuries to the upper torso and head. Investigators recovered three spent 9mm cartridge cases close to the body, suggesting a close-range shooting incident.

A witness residing in a nearby building told investigators they heard three rapid gunshots followed by a brief pause, but did not see the assailant.

Further preliminary findings reportedly linked the victim to recent death threats allegedly connected to a property dispute involving the family of the late Mr. Moses Jimoh. According to the report, the dispute centers on the distribution of assets left behind by the deceased, with tensions reportedly involving members of the family, including references to Mr. Samson Jimoh, identified as the first son and beneficiary of the estate.

The police, however, have not officially confirmed any suspect or motive, stressing that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the killing.

The case has been classified as homicide, and the scene has since been secured for forensic analysis.

Authorities are expected to intensify investigations as detectives review digital evidence, including the victim’s phone records, which are believed to contain leads relevant to the case.

The Nigeria Police Force has urged members of the public with useful information to assist ongoing investigations.

Further updates are expected as the inquiry progresses.
