Former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has disclosed that he contributed to making Bola Tinubu president of Nigeria.

El-Rufai made the remark while noting that Tinubu’s administration has derailed in his purpose.

He spoke on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics while tackling those attacking him for criticizing Tinubu’s administration.

The former governor insisted that he had the right to comment and criticize Tinubu’s administration.

He said: “Everyone knows that I was one of the founding fathers of APC and everyone knows I made some contributions in bringing Asiwaju to the presidency.

“If Asiwaju’s government has derailed and is not doing what we thought he will do and not siding the interest of Nigerians, I should not criticize him because I contributed in bringing him, is that the logic in Nigeria these days?

“Where does that happen? The purpose of government is to get things done for the progress of the people and the country.

“So, even if it’s my son that is the president or governor and is not doing the right thing, I lose the right to disagree or criticize? Is that how Nigeria has gotten? Have we gone that low?

“So because when a person details and I contributed in getting him there, I am prohibited from commenting, is that what Nigeria has become?”
