The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has revoked an earlier invitation issued to the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, for questioning. Instead, he has instructed the Kano State Police Command to obtain the monarch’s statement regarding the ongoing investigation.

The decision which was confirmed in a statement by police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi, follows interventions by prominent stakeholders.

“After careful consideration and dialogue with key stakeholders, the Inspector-General has directed the Kano State Command to handle this phase of the inquiry,” Adejobi stated.
