India Greets Okonjo-Iweala, Restates Commitment to Free, Fair Global Trade

India said she remains committed to free and fair global trade.
The commitment of the Asian country’s government was expressed in a congratulation message to Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her election as Director General of World Trade Organisation.
India and Nigeria have always supported each other at multilateral policy issues including on global trade issues.
A tweet on Wednesday by the Commerce & Industry Minister, Government of India,
Mr. Piyush Goyal congratulated Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her election as DG WTO.
The tweet said: “Congratulations @NOIweala on becoming the first woman & African to be elected as @WTO Director-General.
“I look forward to our productive interactions to highlight India’s commitment towards free and fair global trade.”
