A report by The Washington Post has claimed that US President Donald Trump confronted Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth over the state of America’s munitions stockpiles amid growing concerns about a possible return to major military operations against Iran.

According to the newspaper, the reported exchange took place at Camp David on the sidelines of a Cabinet meeting.

Citing two unnamed sources familiar with the discussion, the report alleged that Trump expressed frustration after learning that shortages of long-range and interceptor missiles had not been resolved.

The report further claimed that Trump told Hegseth he believed the issue had already been addressed, while Hegseth allegedly pointed to Deputy Defense Secretary Stephen Feinberg as being responsible for the matter.

However, the White House has strongly rejected the report.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the claims, describing them as “100% fake news” and insisting that the alleged confrontation never occurred

She added that President Trump continues to have “the utmost confidence” in Hegseth.

The Pentagon also denied the allegations. Spokesman Sean Parnell said Hegseth did not mislead the administration about US munitions levels or shift responsibility to Feinberg.

Parnell further described the claims of depleted stockpiles, internal disagreements within the Defense Department, and disputes over Iran policy as entirely false.
