A professor of political economy, Pat Utomi has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of plotting to rig the 2027 general elections.
In a statement posted on his verified X handle on Tuesday, Utomi said the Nigerian people may revolt against INEC.
He said INEC “distrusts technology” when it comes to uploading results to the IREV, but trusts it to manipulate the voters register.
According to him, the people are angry everywhere, adding that he cannot walk through an airport without people surrounding him.
He added that Nigerians are threatening that they may have to take the law into their hands if INEC continues.
The public commentator called on all political parties to come together and demand a fully clean and transparently displayed register.
He also urged the international community, especially those who support elections in Nigeria, to alert INEC to the consequences of its actions.
He warned that what INEC is doing is the moral equivalent of genocide, and that the International Criminal Court, ICC, should be prepared to put on trial INEC officials from clerical levels to the Chairman.
“INEC planning to rig 2027 elections, Nigerians may revolt.
“They may have read Stalin that it is not those who vote but those who count the vote that determine elections, but they may be about to learn that those who miscount the votes may be statistics of revolutions stoked by the anger of the people,” he said.
