Kuje Prison Attack Update! NSA, Security Chiefs Arrive Scene

The Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) has claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s attack on Kuje Medium Security Custodial Centre, Abuja.

In a footage released on Wednesday night, the terrorist group showed some of its men shooting their way into the facility.

The fighters were seen marching in groups while vehicles and building were set on fire in footage now making the rounds.

ISWAP’s A’maq Agency released the video with the caption: “Fighters of Islamic State attacked Kuje prison in Abuja yesterday and succeeded in freeing dozens of prisoners.”

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday visited the scene of the attack, expressing shock and disbelief over the poor intelligence system.

This was moments after Maj.-Gen. Bashir Magashi, Minister of Defence, visited the facility, detailing how the attackers accessed the cell where Boko Haram suspects were kept.

Magashi said after the attack none of the 64 Boko Haram suspects in custody could be located.
