Augustine Eguavoen, the Super Eagles’ interim coach, has claimed that Monday’s humiliating 2-1 home loss to Rwanda will not work against his team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The West Africans will face the Amavubi when the 2026 World Cup qualifiers start in March 2025.
Eguavoen asserted that his team’s defeat against the East Africans in Uyo would have no bearing on their performance in Kigali.
“This won’t affect (Nigeria for the World Cup qualifiers),” a deflated Eguavoen maintained.
“We have learnt a hard lesson, we will evaluate and have the strategies to face them.”
The Super Eagles are winless in Group C with three draws and one defeat in four games.
The three-time champions occupy fifth position in the group with three points.
