Following their recent strategic dialogue to expand HIV testing in hard-to-reach communities, the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) and the Excellence Community Education Welfare Scheme (ECEWS) have taken a further step in their partnership. During a follow-up engagement at the Agency on Tuesday September 8, 2026, ECEWS presented LSACA with two brand-new desktop computers and a laptop to enhance its operational and programme implementation capacity.
The IT equipment was formally presented by the Team Lead of ECEWS, Dr. Andy Eyo, who noted that empowering the Agency’s logistics and data management infrastructure is vital to sustaining the community-level testing interventions agreed upon during their initial meeting. Dr. Eyo expressed gratitude to LSACA for its swift support in providing HIV test kits, emphasizing that such seamless collaboration is already yielding results in ensuring sustained, barrier-free access to testing across vulnerable Lagos communities.
Responding, the Chief Executive Officer of LSACA, Dr. Folakemi Animashaun, thanked ECEWS for the donation and highlighted how institutional support matches the state’s aggressive drive for adequate HIV testing coverage. She acknowledged the unwavering support of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, particularly his commitment to resolving antiretroviral (ARV) stock challenges.
“I will say a big thank you to our Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Sometime last year, I met with him and told him that we had a problem with the stock of ARVs. He asked what the problem was, and when I explained it to him, he said, ‘Lagos will fill the space.’ Since then, the Governor has fulfilled that promise,” Dr. Animashaun stated.
The CEO disclosed that the State has successfully received initial batches of newly procured ARV commodities and is expecting additional consignments. This influx of supplies will significantly optimize the expanded testing and treatment pathways currently being mapped out with partners like ECEWS.
Dr. Animashaun assured residents and stakeholders that LSACA will continuously publicize availability and ensure health facilities and community structures remain fully stocked. The engagement concluded with both organizations reaffirming their shared commitment to deploying these new resources toward a more resilient, well-equipped, and sustainable HIV response in Lagos State.
