The presiding judges, Ghazali Adam and Hyacenth Dolnanan, handed down the sentence after the convict pleaded guilty to the two-count charge and begged for leniency.

They, however, gave the convict an option of N20,000 fine.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Inspector Ibrahim Gokwat, said the case was reported at the Laranto Police Station, Jos on Feb 14 by one Aliyu Abdullahi.

Gokwat said that, on the same date, the convict broke the locks to Abdullahi’s shop located at Yan Gwanjo Laranto Market, Jos

The police prosecutor told the court that, during police investigation, convict pleaded guilty to the crime.

Gokwat added that the offence contravened Section 333, 334 and 313 of the Plateau State Penal Code, laws of Northern Nigeria.
