First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday, expressed concern over the recent mass abductions recorded in parts of the country, describing the incidents as worrisome.

Speaking at a Christmas engagement with children at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, Mrs Tinubu said government officials were working to address the nation’s security challenges, especially those affecting children.

While commenting on ongoing rescue operations, the First Lady noted that the administration had responded quickly to the incidents, but stressed that managing security in a country of Nigeria’s size required patience and sustained national effort.

She said several children who attended the event expressed interest in joining the military, adding that their enthusiasm reflected a growing desire among young Nigerians to contribute to national security.

Mrs Tinubu also used the Christmas programme, which brings together children from less-privileged backgrounds, to encourage Nigerians to embrace cultural identity and show generosity during the festive season.

According to her, Christmas offers an opportunity to promote storytelling and traditions that reflect African heritage, while strengthening community support through acts of giving.

She urged Nigerians to prioritise helping others in the coming year, noting that generosity remains central to building resilient communities.
