Eminent publishers and media managers visited the ultramodern Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State, on Wednesday. They expressed excitement at the transformation that the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has brought to that area.
The visit was made on Wednesday after the completion of the 3rd Nigerian media leaders’ summit, which took place at the Academy Suite, Abeokuta, Ogun State, from Monday, 5th May, 2025, to Tuesday, 6th May, 2025.
They were equally impressed with the speed with which the governor executed such a massive landmark project. They were very impressed with the quality of work done and explored the superb facility.
Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure Engr. Ade Akinsanya, Transportation Commissioner Mr. Gbenga Dairo, and the Airport Manager, Captain Dapo Olumide, all provided insights into the success story.
The Airport Manager, Captain Olumide, took the media team through the entire process from the beginning to the end and also stressed that most of the equipment installed at the airport is of the most advanced technology, the kind that you hardly find in Nigerian airports.
He took the media leaders to the tower, the meteorological garden, and the four-kilometer runway that is arguably the longest in Nigeria.
One of the media team members said, “This is awesome. It’s the best I have seen anywhere in Nigeria.”
They were also taken to the Customs Village close to the airport.
The entire area is indeed an aerotropolis (airport city) to behold. It will complement the Lagos and Ibadan airports and assist Ogun State and Nigeria’s quest for economic development.
