The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has attributed the increasing circulation of counterfeit, adulterated and unsafe consumer products in Nigeria to the activities of Chinese syndicates.
The agency said the syndicates have been involved in the production and distribution of fake products entering the Nigerian market.
NAFDAC disclosed this while highlighting its efforts to tackle the growing challenge of counterfeit products and protect consumers from unsafe goods.
The agency said the activities of the syndicates had contributed significantly to the availability of substandard products in the country.
NAFDAC has continued to carry out enforcement operations against manufacturers, importers, distributors and sellers of unregistered and counterfeit products.
The agency urged Nigerians to be cautious when purchasing regulated products and to patronise only products that meet the required safety and registration standards.
