The National Director of Sports of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Ojumoola Miracle Timileyin, has congratulated Edo Queens FC on their emergence as champions of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League Premiership.
In a statement issued by his office, the student leader described the title victory as a reward for the team’s resilience, discipline and determination throughout the season.
According to him, Edo Queens demonstrated the mentality of champions when it mattered most, overcoming pressure on the final day of the season to secure the league crown.
“Destiny beckoned on the final day, and there was no margin for error. Edo Queens entered the decisive encounter knowing that victory was the only path to glory,” he said.
“Rising to the occasion with courage and determination, they delivered when it mattered most, once again affirming their status as one of the finest women’s football teams in Nigeria.”
Timileyin noted that the achievement extends beyond Edo State, describing it as a significant moment for women’s football and sports development across the country.
“I celebrate this outstanding feat not only as a victory for Edo State but also as a victory for Nigerian sports, women’s football, and the countless young girls across the nation who now have another shining example of excellence to emulate,” he stated.
The NANS Sports Director also reserved special praise for the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Desmond Enabulele, whose leadership he credited for the continued success of sports in the state.
“I particularly commend Hon. Desmond Enabulele, whose visionary leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to sports development have continued to yield impressive results,” he said.
“His leadership has consistently demonstrated that strategic investment, effective management, and genuine passion for sports can transform athletes and teams into champions.”
He added that Edo Queens’ success reflects the broader progress being recorded in the state’s sporting ecosystem.
“The success of Edo Queens is a reflection of the broader progress being recorded in Edo State’s sporting ecosystem. Under his stewardship, Edo has remained a leading force in sports development, talent discovery, and competitive excellence in Nigeria.”
As the newly crowned champions prepare for continental competition, Ojumoola urged the team to remain focused and determined.
“The nation is proud of your accomplishment and confident in your ability to fly the Nigerian flag high across Africa,” he said.
He concluded by congratulating the players, coaching crew and management of Edo Queens on behalf of Nigerian students and sports enthusiasts nationwide.
