Niger State governor, Mohammed Bago, has given fresh updates on the deaths of suspected miners in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in the state.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Saturday, the governor said the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services, DSS, had taken statements from those discharged from the hospital.

According to him, some of them had been discharged and reunited with their families.

He stated that a few were still in the hospital, expressing optimism that they would be reunited with their families shortly after receiving treatment for dehydration and malnutrition.

“The DSS and the Nigerian Police took them into custody. Some have been discharged from the hospital. Some are still in the hospital. Those discharged have reunited with their families.

“They have undergone medical tests, and they have been certified to be very okay to go back to their families.
