Senator David Umahi.

President Bola Tinubu has approved N631.3 billion for the construction and rehabilitation of nine major road projects across the country.

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to Umahi, the road projects are spread across the six geopolitical zones and are aimed at boosting economic activities, easing transportation and connecting key commercial hubs.

He said the approval underscores the commitment of the Tinubu administration to fixing Nigeria’s dilapidated road infrastructure inherited from previous administrations.

The Minister noted that the projects will be executed under strict supervision to ensure quality and timely delivery, adding that contractors have been directed to mobilize to site immediately.

Umahi assured Nigerians that despite the huge cost, the government got value for money and followed due process in the award of the contracts.
