Eye witnesses told newsmen that Malari community area came under attack at about 7:00 O’clock Thursday evening when loud explosions were heard followed by sporadic gunshot lasting for some minutes before it receded.

Our source maintained that the attackers suspected actually launched their targeted attacks on troops’ formation guarding the trenches in the area.

“It was not their intention to target ordinary civilians but they wanted mostly military which is why we heard they killed one soldier in the battle with our comrades in the trenches.

“Many people including women and children scampered into the city centre for safety while the heavy sounds of artillery rented the air.

“Women and children were seen rushing towards the custom area, Kenanan Yobe, College of Agriculture alongside with their aged ones,” said the source.

The situation became calm when the military restored sanity and chased the enemies away into the dark Savannah making most residents who had trekked down to Customs Fly over areas to return to their homes before midnight.
