Award-winning Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has stirred conversation with her candid take on Nigerian men, stating that while they exude charm and spend freely, they often lack genuine romantic depth.
In a recent episode of Thoughts In A Culli which started trending on Friday,The Somebody’s Son crooner didn’t mince words. “Nigerian men do have swag, but they are not really romantic when it comes down to it. They know how to swag and splash cash, but I am not looking for that,” she said.
Savage, known for her bold persona and genre-defining hits, explained that while she appreciates confidence and generosity, those qualities don’t make up for a lack of emotional connection. “I want something deeper,” she added, highlighting that flashy gestures and material offerings fall short of the meaningful affection she seeks in a partner.
Rising to fame in 2010 with her breakout hit Kele Kele Love, Tiwa Savage has grown into one of Africa’s most influential music stars, with international awards and global recognition under her belt.
The Somebody’s Son singer was previously married to music executive Tunji ‘TeeBillz’ Balogun. The pair tied the knot in 2013 and welcomed a son, Jamal, in 2015, before divorcing in 2018.
