The Nigerian Navy has announced the death of Rear Adm. Bello Katagum, Chief of Operations at Naval Headquarters, who passed away in Egypt after a protracted illness.

The acting Director of Navy Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, made the announcement in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

Folorunsho describe the late Katagum as a respected senior officer whose career was marked by professionalism, strategic leadership, and unwavering commitment to national security.

He said the Chief of the Naval Staff, officers, ratings, and civilian personnel had expressed profound sorrow over the loss.

According to him, Katagum had been laid to rest according to Islamic rites.

He extended the navy’s heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues, describing his legacy as a source of inspiration for all personnel.
