Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has condoled with the family, the people of Abia State and Nigerians on the death of former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Ognonnaya Onu.

Onu was Minister of Science and Technology in the Buhari administration. He died on Thursday, April 11, 2024 in Abuja.

In a letter signed by the Chairman of the Forum, Sen. Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, the forum paid tributes to the legacy, dedication to service and unwavering commitment to nationhood by Dr. Onu which will forever be etched in the annals of our nations history.

The letter reads, “As a leader in the then All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), he remained one of the leading faces of the opposition in the current 4th republic and was instrumental in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“To his family, we offer our heartfelt sympathies during this time of profound loss. May you find strength in each other and comfort in cherished memories as you navigate this period of grief.

“To his friends and associates , may the fond recollections shared with Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu brings solace and light in the midst of sorrow. His impact on those around him is a testament to the kindness and wisdom he embodied.

“To the people of Abia State, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu’s contribution to the growth and development of your state stands as a monument to his vision and dedication. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

“To all Nigerians, Dr. Onu’s tenure as Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation was marked by his unwavering commitment to progress and innovation. His leadership has left an indelible mark on our nation’s journey towards technological advancement and development.

“During this time of mourning, may we remember Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu with gratitude for his service, respect for his leadership, and admiration for his legacy. His absence will be deeply missed, but his impact will resonate for years to come.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as we mourn the loss of a distinguished leader and a true patriot.”
