Oborevwori Congratulates Ese Gam, UPU Executive, Charges Leaders To Deepen Unity In Urhobo Nation

Chief Ese Gam scored 432 votes, while Chief Simeon Ohwofa scored 178 votes in the election for the office of the President- General of the union.

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated Chief Ese Gam on his reelection as the President- General of the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, and all other elected as Executive members of the union.
Chief Ese Gam scored 432 votes, while Chief Simeon Ohwofa scored 178 votes in the election for the office of the President- General of the union.
The Governor commended the peaceful conduct of the 94th Urhobo National Day Celebration and 2025 Annual Congress held at the union’s headquarters in Uvwiamughe-Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.
The Governor, in the congratulatory message by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, also congratulated all those who won and lost in the election, describing their participation as a demonstration of their love and commitment to the growth and progress of the Urhobo nation.
Oborevwori applauded the maturity, restraint, and peaceful disposition displayed by delegates, contestants and their supporters, stressing that the orderly conduct of the exercise reflected the unity and deep-rooted democratic values of the Urhobo people.
He urged the new leadership to elevate the Urhobo cause and address concerns raised during the campaigns in order to reposition the union for stronger cohesion and enhanced service to the people.
He said: “The UPU remains a critical cultural and socio-political institution of the Urhobo nation. I charge the new Executive to build on the foundation laid by their predecessors and work tirelessly to foster more unity, peace, and love among our people.”
Oborevwori called on all contestants in the UPU election to continue supporting the union, noting that their sacrifices and interest in Urhobo development were invaluable to preserving the strength and identity of the Urhobo nation.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with all ethnic nationalities in the State in the pursuit of the progress, cultural preservation, and socio-economic advancement of all Deltans.
