Governor of Delta, Sen. (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, has congratulated Chief Judge of the state, Justice Marshal Umukoro, on his 65th birth anniversary.

Okowa, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, said Justice Umukoro was one who served the state meritoriously as an erudite jurist whose contributions to the growth of the state’s judiciary would remain indelible.

According to him, Umukoro’s outstanding service to the state culminated in his appointment as Chief Judge in 2015.

He lauded Justice Marshal Umukoro, whose 2021 birth anniversary coincided with his retirement from civil service of the State, on his many accomplishments including the recent granting of full autonomy to the state’s judiciary under his astute watch.

“By all standards, you have made your mark in the judiciary as a Chief Judge and life bencher and I must thank God that over the years, you have used your privileged position to render service to our great state and humanity.

“On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I join your professional colleagues, family and friends in commemorating the 65th anniversary of your birth.

“As you celebrate this milestone and as you bow out on retirement, it is my prayer that God will continue to bless you and grant you greater wisdom in your future capacities you may serve the state, country and humanity.”

METROWATCH is an online daily newspaper founded in October 2013 by a seasoned reporter, Collins Edomaruse. He had risen to the position of General Editor in his 18 years stint at THISDAY newspaper, an appointment he resigned on October 30, 2013 to pursue his online newspaper publishing dream. Prior to his appointment as the newspaper’s General Editor, he had served, at various times, as Editor, Nation’s Capital;  Group News Editor, Associate Editor, and Deputy Editor at different times for the newspaper’s three titles – Daily, Sunday and Saturday.

Edomaruse had covered education, sports, energy, national security, defence and transport beats among others. As a defence correspondent, Edomaruse traversed the war zones of both Liberia and Sierra-Leone in the dark days of Charles Taylor and Foday Sanko as warlords, which earned him the sobriquet “General” by his colleagues in the newsroom.

OUR MISSION

METROWATCH will act as a catalyst in our debate and desire for a crime-free Nigeria and provide the much-needed platform for all, irrespective of social, religious or political divide, to express their views.
