Nigerian singer, YCee, has addressed the criticisms over his controversial comment on the current trend of “brain-rot” content in Nigeria, which he labelled as an “olodo uprising”.

YCee sparked mixed reactions after using popular Tiktoker Peller as an example of what he described as “olodo uprising” where Nigerians are increasingly embracing “brain-rot” contents for entertainment at the expense of edutertainment.

Some critics slammed him for using Peller as an example, arguing that he could have made his point without name-dropping Peller.

However, reacting in a recent interview with Cool FM Lagos, YCee said he doesn’t owe anyone an apology for using Peller as an example in butressing buttressing.

He said, “Some people are saying I shouldn’t have called Peller’s name, but I said what I said. If you feel offended, you should check yourself. A lot of people are also taking what I said out of context. The olodo uprising is even worse than I thought because there are so many people coming out to defend it.

“My call is to people that are tired of brain-rot contents. There is no reason why intelligent people cannot be streamers or content creators.”
