Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, on Monday, formally moved out of the Government House, Benin City.
Recall that the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki had last week relocated his deputy’s office out of government house.
The development came amid the feud between the duo over Shaibu’s 2024 succession plot and following the lawsuit the deputy governor filed against Obaseki to stop his removal from office.
However, despite withdrawing the suit from the court, last week, it was gathered that the state government insisted that the Deputy Governor move out of government house.
It was gathered that the directive came on Monday in a letter signed by the Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa, and addressed to the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Deputy Governor.
A visit to the new office located at No. 7, Osadebe Avenue, GRA, showed some staff in the Deputy Governor’s office moving files and other office equipment from Government House into the new office.
It was also observed that workers were still on site carrying out a marathon maintenance on the new office which was hitherto an abandoned old building formerly used by the state Procurement Agency.
