The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed a viral report purporting that a naval officer who recently had a heated exchange with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, escaped an assassination attempt.
Reports emerged on Sunday night alleging that the officer was trailed by unidentified individuals riding in two unmarked black Hilux vans with no number plates.
According to the report, the vehicles that trailed the officer followed him from the NIPCO Filling Station off the Line Expressway to Gado Nasco Way.
However, reacting, the FCT Police in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Josephine Adeh said there was no such incident in Abuja.
“The Command wishes to categorically state that no such incident has been reported or recorded anywhere within the Federal Capital Territory.
“The public is advised to disregard this false information and desist from spreading unverified claims capable of causing unnecessary panic.
“For the safety of all residents, the Command urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police Division”, Josephine said.
