The command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe who disclosed this on Wednesday in Warri, said that the exhibits were abandoned at the Ekiugbo axis of Ughelli Town.

Edafe said that the operatives of the CP- Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) recovered the firearms on Monday while acting on credible information.

He said that the exhibits were linked to a suspected cultist who was currently at large.

The police spokesman said that the suspect abandoned the firearms upon realising that he was being trailed by the operatives.

He also said that the suspected hoodlum was linked to the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as “Aro Baggar”.

“Sustained investigative efforts into a case of conspiracy, cultism, and murder led to another operational breakthrough on April 13.

“Operatives of the CP-SAT, acting on credible intelligence, recovered one pump-action gun with three rounds of live cartridges abandoned at the Ekiugbo area of Ughelli.

“The recovery is connected to an earlier case in which three suspects were arrested, charged to court, and remanded in prison custody

“The trio were remanded for the murder of one Alex Adanike, which occurred on Jan. 15, in Ughelli.

“Further intelligence revealed that the suspect who is currently at large, was in possession of the firearm before abandoning it upon realising he was being trailed,” he said.

Edafe said that the command in collaboration with the local vigilante groups, have intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspect and recovered more evidence. (NAN)
