President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has hinted that 2027 might be the last chance for the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to contest for the presidency.

Bwala claimed that Atiku promised to bring back the fuel subsidy if elected president because he knows that 2027 might be his last chance.

Tinubu removed the fuel subsidy in Nigeria during his presidential inauguration in 2023.

However, Atiku has pledged to restore the subsidy regime, a position that has sparked widespread debate among Nigerians.

Bwala, however, said Atiku believed that there was nothing to lose after the removal of the fuel subsidy.

Posting on X, Bwala wrote: “Since 2027 is likely to be his last chance to seek the office of the president, he decided to gamble on the populist rhetoric of ‘I will bring back the fuel subsidy.’ He presumed that, after all, there is nothing to lose.
