Samuel Eto’o Reunites with Former Teammate Working as Security Guard

By Seyi Babalola

Samuel Eto’o, President of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), recently had an emotional reunion with a former teammate who is now a security guard in Douala.

Eto’o, who was in town for an Ecobank Group lecture, ran into an old buddy, a man with whom he had once played football.

The two former colleagues had a meaningful talk, reminiscing about their previous experiences on the field.

Eto’o was noticeably moved by the experience and directed his assistant to set up a formal appointment with his old friend to further reconnect.

Eto’o, one of Africa’s greatest footballers, had an illustrious career, winning four African Player of the Year titles and playing for prestigious European clubs such as Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Chelsea.

He secured a historic treble with Inter Milan in 2010 and won the Champions League with Barcelona.

Since retiring in 2019, Eto’o has remained influential in the world of football, and in December 2021, he was elected President of FECAFOOT, continuing his dedication to advancing the sport in Cameroon.
