Sanwo-Olu Swears in Obasa’s Son as Agege LG Chairman
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has sworn in Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, son of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Mudashiru Obasa, as the substantive Chairman of Agege Local Government Area.
Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa was earlier sworn in on July 27, 2025, as Vice-Chairman alongside the former council chairman, Mr. Tunde Azeez.
Following Azeez’s medical leave of absence, Obasa assumed leadership of the council in an acting capacity before Azeez formally resigned on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, citing health challenges.
At the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu charged the new chairman to unite all stakeholders in Agege and ensure the delivery of democratic dividends to the grassroots.
The governor stressed that leadership in Lagos State is anchored on service and reforms, urging Obasa to be fair, responsive, humane and dynamic in the discharge of his duties.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mr. Bolaji Robert, in his welcome address, described the swearing-in as a renewed call to service, dedication and selflessness to the people of Agege Local Government Area.
In his acceptance speech, Obasa pledged his commitment to sustainable development and good governance for the benefit of residents.
He disclosed that 15 road and drainage projects were currently ongoing in the local government, while 14 schools were being renovated.
He also announced the deployment of 10 health booths aimed at bringing healthcare services closer to the people.
Meanwhile, Governor Sanwo-Olu also swore in Mrs. Toyin Anjous-Ademuyiwa as the Permanent Secretary, Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation.
