According to Mutfwang’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Mr Gyang Bere in a statement on Thursday, the governor stated this when he visited the newly appointed Comptroller General of the NIS, Mrs Kemi Nandap.

While congratulating her on her appointment, the governor expressed confidence in Nantap’s ability to make positive contributions to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

According to Mutfwang, Plateau, being the Home of Peace and Tourism, welcomes visitors, especially foreigners who come to invest in the state with the aim of growing the economy and improving the living standards of the people.

He, however, urged the NIS to intensify efforts and identify those whose names motives were always to infiltrate the state to cause harm to innocent Plateau citizens and the country at large.

While stating that his administration was taking bold steps to also address some security concerns such as drug abuse,  Mutfwang urged the Service to play its role in stemming the tide of illicit drug trade in the State.

He further called on the Service to collaborate with relevant government agencies to produce authentic, reliable and credible global standards data, to facilitate planning and effective implementation of government programmes.

The governor then pledged support to the new NIS Comptroller-General, to enable her succeed in the great task ahead

He therefore, advised her to be fair to all regardless of faith, ethnic and regional background, to foster unity in diversity.

“On behalf of the government and peace-loving people of Plateau State, I extend my warm congratulations to Mrs Kemi Nandap and wish you a successful tenure” he stated.

Responding, the Comptroller-General, expressed gratitude for the visit and said she felt humbled and honoured.

She expressed her desire to work on the state’s security to restore its lost glory, noting that the pleasant weather of the state had attracted a lot of foreigners in the past.

She promised to cooperate with other security agencies to provide timely and reliable intelligence to flush out criminal elements from the state.

Nantap said that new innovations would be introduced to enhance the nation’s security through optimal border security management.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the Governor’s delegation was made up of Senator Napoleon Bali and Rep. Beni Lar, among several others. (NAN)
