Shettima Jets Out to Brazil for UN Climate Summit

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday jetted out to Belem, Brazil, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference.

This was contained in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Communication, Stanley Nkwocha.

The two-day summit, hosted by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in partnership with international stakeholders, is scheduled to be held in the Amazonian capital of Pará state.

The statement revealed that Shettima will join several world leaders, global development partners and business executives for the high-level sessions.

“On the first day of engagements in Belem, Senator Shettima will attend the general plenary of leaders where he is expected to present Nigeria’s climate action address,” the statement read.

According to the statement, Shettima will also participate in the launch of the Tropical Forest Forever Fund and join a roundtable on Climate and Nature chaired by President Lula.

He will also hold bilateral meetings aimed at securing Nigeria’s participation in global carbon markets.
