More senior and eminent lawyers have joined the legal team of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), as his trial continues.

The latest additions to Kanu’s legal team include Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Paul Esokoro, and Dr. P.K. Obi.

This was disclosed by Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, ahead of today’s proceedings.

According to Ejimakor: “Breaking: PAUL ESOKORO (a Senior Advocate of Nigeria) and Dr. P.K. Obi (an accomplished academic) have joined the ever-expanding legal team of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. They’re both present in Court today & proceedings are ongoing. The more, the merrier.”

Ejimakor also disclosed that today’s trial would see the prosecution continue with the presentation of its case.

He posted on X: “FRN versus MNK: As the Court reconvenes today in less than an hour, here’s a summary of what to expect.

“The prosecution will continue to present its case through their witness, and there might not be enough time to conduct our cross-examination today. Another adjournment is in view.”

A few days ago, four more eminent Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) joined Kanu’s legal team.

The new additions include Prof. Onyechi Ikpeazu, Emeka Etiaba, Mela Audu Nunghe, and Joseph Akubo.

Kanu is currently facing charges bordering on terrorism before the Justice James Omotosho-led Federal High Court in Abuja.

The prosecution is currently presenting its witness in court. So far, it has produced two witnesses who have testified against Kanu and presented recorded broadcasts.
