Troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued a kidnapped woman and disrupted a planned ransom exchange in Kebbi State.

The acting spokesperson for the operation, Col. Olaniyi Osoba disclosed this in a statement.

Osoba said the troops acted on credible intelligence about a planned ransom exchange involving the woman, who was abducted from her farm last month.

He said the troops mobilised to intercept the transaction, prompting the kidnappers to engage them after sighting their advance.

According to him, the criminals were overwhelmed and forced to retreat, abandoning the hostage. The troops subsequently rescued the woman, who was found unharmed.

Osoba said the victim was taken to safety and reunited with her family in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of the state.

He added that the troops conducted a search along the criminals’ withdrawal route to secure the area before returning to base.

In a separate operation, the troops conducted clearance and dominance patrols in Ngaski Local Government Area without incident.

Osoba said Operation FANSAN YAMMA would continue operations against terrorists and other criminal groups in Kebbi State.

He urged residents to provide security agencies with timely information that could help prevent criminal activities and protect communities.
