The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily sentenced Ibrahim after he pleaded guilty to theft.

Bokkos, however, gave the convict an option to pay N200, 000.

The Judge said the punishment would serve as deterrent to other would-be offenders.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported on May 28, at the Laranto Police Station by Lukman Isa, the complainant.

Gokwat said that the convict stole and diverted the loaded truck with petrol worth N1.5m and sold it before he was arrested.

The offence, according to him, is punishable under the Plateau State Penal Code Law.
