The Lagos campus of United Bible University on Saturday, April 18, 2026, hosted Christian scholars, theologians, students and church leaders for the inauguration of two affiliated institutions — the Francis Egbogun Preachers College for Ministerial Education and the Friday Amirah College of Christian Education.
The colleges are linked to the university’s research centre for Christian and theological studies, established about three decades ago by Kunle Macaulay, widely regarded as the “Father of Theology in Africa.”
Speaking at the event, Macaulay described the university as a Christian-based academic institution committed to raising a new generation of theological experts who will prepare the church for the coming of Jesus Christ and eliminate illiteracy in the pulpit.
He stated that the institution’s tuition-free postgraduate education for church leaders is “our call, duty and responsibility,” warning that “any Christian generation that cannot contribute to the growth of its leadership is preparing for its destruction, chaos and spiritual decay.”
In his remarks, Francis Egbogun emphasised the importance of proper training and certification for professional church leaders, stressing excellence in ministry.
Also speaking, Nike Sotade, chairwoman of the Alumni Association of the university, urged graduates to remain committed to supporting their alma mater.
Notable Christian leaders at the event included Atilola Olaide Taiwo, who led a delegation from Esther Christian Seminary, Ibadan, Oyo State; Funmi Bakare of Regeneration Fellowship Ministries; Rev Dr Francis Egbogun; Rev Dr Florence Egbogun; Rev Dr David Kossi; Rev Dr Rosey Adekuoroye; Rev Dr Gabriel Adeleke; Rev Dr Olusola Ayeni; Associate Professor Grace Ajayi and Rev Dr Babatunde Akinsanya.
The occasion also featured the investiture of patrons and matrons of the Alumni Association, including Aniefiok Akpabio, Rev Dr Dupelola Adeniran and Rev Dr Stella Oyefeso.
