Yesterday’s historic visit of the European Union Ambassador, the German Ambassador, and other distinguished foreign delegates to the Palace of the Oba of Benin, ably led by the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, marked a powerful reaffirmation that Edo is steadily returning to the path of dignity, order, and respect.

What former Governor Obaseki recklessly undermined and destroyed through arrogance, disregard for tradition, and political deception, Governor Okpebholo is diligently rebuilding — restoring honor to the Palace, mending relationships with the international community, and reinstating Edo’s image as a land of culture, civility, and global relevance.

In particular, the deception orchestrated by Obaseki over the Benin Royal Museum and the controversies surrounding MOWAA are now taking on a new light. Those who were misled, swayed by false narratives and empty promises, are beginning to perceive the truth, seeing clearly how governance and tradition were manipulated for personal and political gain. Under Governor Okpebholo’s stewardship, these dark chapters are being addressed with transparency, accountability, and a commitment to restoring integrity in Edo’s cultural and civic institutions.

The presence of such high-level foreign diplomats in the Palace, guided by Governor Okpebholo, was more than ceremonial; it was a public affirmation that Edo State, under its present administration, is not only regaining lost respect but is being repositioned as a hub of trust, diplomacy, and responsible leadership.

Governor Monday Okpebholo’s steady, principled governance is bridging gaps, restoring unity between government and traditional institutions, and projecting Edo as a beacon of cultural pride, political sanity, and credible leadership. Edo is healing — the Palace is honored once again, and the world is witnessing a renewed dawn of respect, truth, and restoration.
