Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has said that pre-match talk from Zambia motivated the team to go all out for victory in Friday’s quarter-final fixture at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Justine Madugu’s side annihilated their opponent 5-0 to book a place in the semi-finals.

Zambia made a big impact in the group stage, coming close to beating hosts Morocco in the tournament’s opening game, before dispatching Senegal, and Democratic Republic of Congo.

Talks were mostly centred around their dynamic attacking duo- Barbara Banda, and Rachel Kundananji in the build-up to the game.

The Super Falcons, however, silenced pundits, and critics with their dominant performance.

Ajibade confessed they used the criticism as motivation to achieve victory.

“There was a lot of talk from the Zambia camp, and we heard all of it. It was big motivation for us,” the winger said after the game.
