President Trump’s administration has announced that the US will restore aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine, Al Jazeera reports.

In return, Ukraine has agreed to accept a US proposal for the immediate introduction of a temporary 30-day ceasefire.

The ceasefire may be extended by mutual agreement, subject to acceptance and simultaneous implementation by Russia.

It was learnt that the breakthrough came after negotiations between senior officials from Ukraine and the US in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The development comes after Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and his US counterpart, Donald Trump, clashed at the Oval Office.

Recall that President Trump had, last month, paused military aid to Ukraine and put some intelligence sharing on hold amid the ongoing war.

The pause paved the way for Moscow’s forces to launch attacks on Ukraine using a series of missiles and drones.
