The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has responded strongly to recent allegations made by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing its criticisms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s planned visit to commission projects in the state as “blatant falsehood” and “propaganda from a party that has lost its way.”
The reaction, contained in a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, High Chief Douglas Otaru sent to journalists on Tuesday was issued in response to remarks by the PDP Chairman, Mr. Adamu Bako, who through his Press Secretary, Mr. Jonathan Ipaa, had alleged that many of the projects scheduled for commissioning in May 2025 were either repainted, uncompleted, or previously inaugurated by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
“It’s ironic that a party embroiled in various troubles and litigation would attempt to question the integrity of the legacy projects duly executed by the hardworking administration of His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule,” Otaru stated.
He emphasized that the projects in question are “real and tangible evidence of the government’s commitment to improving the lives of Nasarawa residents,” urging citizens to “disregard the PDP’s falsehood and malicious claims.”
The PDP had earlier issued a caution to President Tinubu over what it described as a “plot to mislead” the president into commissioning incomplete or refurbished projects. According to the statement by Mr. Ipaa, “They are inviting the President to come and commission an uncompleted underpass bridge in Lafia, the 5km Shendam Road and mass transit buses former president Buhari had commissioned before.”
The statement further alleged that, “Some of the vehicles claimed by the governor to be arriving from China are being repainted at a warehouse in Abuja,” warning that “what happened under Buhari might happen under the Tinubu era. The mass transit buses were commissioned only to disappear hours thereafter, never to be seen till date.”
In his rejoinder, Otaru dismissed the claims as “utterly ridiculous and unfortunate,” describing the PDP as a “party on life support” and asserting that “the ghosts of your sins will continue to haunt you” until the party repents for alleged past misdeeds during the 2023 elections.
“The APC remains committed to delivering results-driven governance, and we will not let baseless propaganda distract us from our mission of building a better Nasarawa State,” he concluded.
However, President Tinubu is expected to commission several key projects, including a newly completed secretariat complex with modern facilities, as part of activities marking his second anniversary in office.
