Senator Nenadi Usman, the Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party, is due to officially take over the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Usman will be the first female national chairman of a major Nigerian political party.
The secretariat, which is located in the Utako District of Abuja, was formerly occupied by the Julius Abure-led wing of the party until the recent ruling of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, officially validated Usman and her team.
At the time of filing this report, a banner bearing the photographs of Usman and the acting National Secretary, Senator Darlington Nwochocha, is being hoisted around the building preparatory to an event signalling the beginning of a new era.
