The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a viral video alleging an ongoing terrorist attack in Abuja, describing the claim as false and misleading.

The clarification was contained in a statement shared on the official page of the police on Friday, April 10, 2026.

According to the statement, the video circulating online was deliberately put together using unrelated footage to create panic and misinform the public about security conditions in the Federal Capital Territory.

“The claims contained in the video are entirely false, misleading, and malicious,” the police said.

The Force said preliminary investigations showed the content was designed to incite fear and undermine public confidence in the security architecture of the nation’s capital.

Police operatives confirmed the arrest of one Pam Joseph, who was linked to the creation and spread of the video following intelligence gathering and digital forensic analysis.

“The arrest followed credible intelligence and digital forensic investigations linking the suspect to the origin and circulation of the video,” the statement added.

The police stressed that while citizens have the right to freedom of expression, such rights do not cover the deliberate spread of misinformation capable of disrupting public peace and national security.

The Force further urged members of the public to always verify information before sharing, warning against actions that could trigger unnecessary panic or disorder.
