The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has congratulated Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on his re-election.

Governor Adeleke described the outcome as a clear reflection of the people’s choice.

Governor Soludo was returned elected by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election.

Speaking in Osogbo on Sunday, through a statement by Olawale Rasheed his spokesperson, Governor Adeleke emphasised that the will of the people, as expressed through the ballot, must always be respected.

“I warmly rejoice with my brother, Prof. Soludo. His re-election reflects his good performance over the last four years and the deep love the people of Anambra have for him, his style of governance and his service to the people,” he said.

The governor added that the result confirmed that free and fair elections were achievable when true democrats superintend the electoral process.

He stressed that the foundation of a sustainable democracy is respect for voters’ choices and the prevention of electoral malpractice.

“We must sustain the tempo by ensuring that electoral robbery is outlawed for the sake of our democracy. Any politician engaging in such acts must be sanctioned,” Adeleke said.

The Osun governor reiterated that power originates from the people, who reserve the right to pick their leaders.

“Democracy is about ballot papers, ballot boxes and a free environment for citizens to cast their votes. You cannot force yourself on the people in a democracy. The people are the bosses and they choose who presides over their states,” he explained.

Adeleke also commended the INEC leadership under Prof Amupitan, urging the commission to continue deepening electoral reforms.

He called on political actors to recommit to transparency and accountability as a mark of respect for both the constitution and the electorate.
