Dino Melaye, former senator, has criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the party is confusing Nigerians with empty promises while the country suffers.

Speaking on Channels Television on Friday, Melaye said the APC is speaking in tongues claiming to take tough decisions but instead leading Nigerians into deeper hardship.

“They are speaking in tongues. And what are they telling you? That they are taking tough decisions. They are telling you that we are putting Nigerians on a top off,” Melaye said.

He accused the APC government of deliberately taking the country through unnecessary suffering, including hunger, poverty, and insecurity.

“We are taking you through rigorous struggle, we are taking you through hunger, we are taking you through malnutrition, we are taking you through insecurity. These problems could be momentary, but at the end of the day, it is not looking like we’ll be better off.”

Melaye compared the government to a vehicle driven by someone under the influence.

“When you have a roadmap and a GPRS, you are likely to get to your destination. But APC and this government is a car being driven by a drunken driver. The possibility of getting to your destination is not there,” he added.

He also dismissed the APC’s popular slogan, Renewed Hope, saying it means nothing to Nigerians on the street.

He also criticised the government over the use of two national anthems and the existence of multiple versions of naira notes.

“In a country where you have two national anthems… where you have two types of 1,000 Naira notes, two of 500, two of 200, and two of 100. it doesn’t happen anywhere else in the world,” he said.

According to Melaye, the situation has made it easy for fake currency to spread, further worsening the country’s economic crisis.

“We are in an outrageously calamitous situation,” he said.

Recall that Dino Malaye officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Friday.
