The founder of the Ministers Prayer Network, Rev. Prof. Mosy Madugba, has alleged that former President Olusegun Obasanjo allocated oil wells to prominent Nigerian pastors, including David Oyedepo, Enoch Adeboye and William Kumuyi.
Madugba made the allegation in a video circulating on social media, where he linked the purported allocations to the wealth and investments of the religious leaders.
He claimed that the oil wells enabled the pastors to establish universities, hospitals and schools, while also acquiring private jets.
The cleric identified Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church, Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, and Kumuyi, General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, as alleged beneficiaries.
“I don’t know whether you know that the big names you have in Lagos have oil wells. Obasanjo gave them oil wells. The head of Winners Chapel has an oil well.
“Adeboye has an oil well, and one other person, Kumuyi, has an oil well. They have universities. They have big hospitals. They have schools. And except Kumuyi, they have private jets,” he said.
Madugba also alleged that Obasanjo, during his time in office, allocated oil wells to some of his associates in the Niger Delta, giving them access to substantial wealth.
The cleric made the remarks while advising his congregation to associate with knowledgeable people and work towards improving their personal capacity.
“Associate with the wise. Choose a wise company. To be a leader, I pray that God will open your eyes to show you what things to do to increase your capacity as a human being,” he said.
However, Madugba did not provide evidence to support the claims in the video. The allegations had not been independently verified at the time of filing this report.
